History of Turin
Turin was officially planned and laid out in 1887. It was given its name after the city of Turin in Italy. A post office opened in Turin in 1887. It served the community for many years. However, the post office closed down in 1996.
Geography of Turin
Turin is located at coordinates 42°1′15″N 95°58′3″W. This means it is in the western part of Iowa. The city is found near where two rivers meet: the Little Sioux River and the Maple River.
The United States Census Bureau states that Turin covers a total area of about 0.23 square kilometers (0.09 square miles). All of this area is land, meaning there are no large bodies of water within the city limits.
