Turin is a small village in Lewis County, New York, United States. It is part of the larger Town of Turin. The village is located north of the city of Rome. In 2020, about 197 people lived in Turin.
Village History
The village of Turin was once known as "Turin Four Corners." In its early days, the village was home to three gristmills. Gristmills are places where grain is ground into flour. This shows that farming was an important activity in the area long ago.
Turin's Location and Land
The village of Turin is found on the southern edge of the Town of Turin. You can find it using these coordinates: 43°37′44″N 75°24′33″W / 43.62889°N 75.40917°W.
New York State Route 26 (also called State Street) runs through the village. This road connects Turin to other places. For example, it goes north about 12 miles to Lowville, which is the main town for the county. The road also goes south about 30 miles to Rome.
The United States Census Bureau says that Turin covers about 2.7 square kilometers (about 1.03 square miles) of land. There is no water area within the village limits. A stream called Mill Creek flows through the northern part of the village. This creek eventually joins the Black River.
