Turkey Creek is a cool stream, like a small river, that flows through the beautiful Ozarks region. This area is found in both southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. Turkey Creek is special because it flows into Lake Taneycomo, which is a popular lake in Missouri.

Where Does Turkey Creek Flow?
Turkey Creek starts its journey in Boone County, Arkansas. Its very beginning, called the source, is just south of the border between Missouri and Arkansas. It begins near a small village named Crest.
Following the Creek's Path
As Turkey Creek flows, it passes by some interesting landmarks. A railroad line actually follows the creek's path for a while! This happens after the train tracks come out of the Crest railroad tunnel. This tunnel goes right under Arkansas State Route 14 near Crest.
After crossing into Taney County, Missouri, the creek continues to flow north. It goes through the western part of a town called Hollister. Finally, Turkey Creek meets and joins Lake Taneycomo south of the city of Branson. When two bodies of water meet like this, it's called a confluence.
How Long is Turkey Creek?
From where it crosses the state border to where it joins Lake Taneycomo, Turkey Creek travels about 86 mi (138 km). That's a pretty long journey for a creek!
