Tyler Fredrickson was born on February 26, 1981. He is a former American football player who specialized as a placekicker. A placekicker is the player who kicks the ball for field goals and extra points. Tyler also became known as a TV personality.

He played in the NFL for the Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders. These were pre-season games in 2007. He was released before the regular season started. While with the Oakland Raiders, he kicked a 49-yard field goal. He also handled all the kicking duties in a game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Later, Tyler signed a deal with the Los Angeles Avengers. This team was part of the Arena Football League. He played in their last eight games during the 2008 season.

In 2015, Tyler was a contestant on the TV show Survivor. This was the 30th season of the popular reality show. He finished in seventh place. Today, he works as an executive in film and TV development. He works with actress Joey King.

Early Life and School

Tyler Fredrickson was born to Mark Fredrickson and Mimi Lessett. He grew up in Goleta, California. He went to Dos Pueblos High School there.

At high school, Tyler was a talented athlete. He played both football and soccer. He has a sister named Taryn. In his senior year, he was named a top punter in his region.

As a placekicker, he once kicked three field goals in one game. One of these was the winning kick with only four seconds left! This helped his team beat Cabrillo High School 9–7. He was also a great soccer player. He earned all-league honors four times.

Playing in College

After high school, Tyler went to the University of California, Berkeley. He played for the Golden Bears team. He was their main punter for three seasons.

In his senior year in 2003, he also became the team's placekicker. Tyler punted the ball 198 times for Cal. He averaged 39.4 yards per punt. As a placekicker, he made two very long field goals. One was from 51 yards and another from 53 yards. These were some of the longest field goals in Golden Bear history!

Pro Football Career

Tyler Fredrickson played in several pre-season NFL games. However, he never played in a regular season professional game.

NFL Pre-Season Games

After the 2004 NFL Draft, Tyler signed with the Seattle Seahawks. He was released during training camp. A year later, he joined the Denver Broncos for training camp. He then played in NFL Europe for the Amsterdam Admirals.

In 2006, he signed with the Broncos again but was released. Six days later, the Dallas Cowboys picked him up. He kicked a 49-yard field goal in a pre-season game. Before the 2007 NFL season, he spent time with the Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders. He also had tryouts with other NFL teams. These included the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets.

Arena Football League

On April 24, 2008, Tyler signed with the Los Angeles Avengers. This team was part of the Arena Football League. He joined them in the middle of their season. He played in the last eight games for the Avengers.

Survivor TV Show

In 2014, Tyler Fredrickson competed on Survivor: Worlds Apart. This was the 30th season of the American TV show Survivor. The show first aired on February 25, 2015.

Tyler finished in seventh place on the show. He stayed in the game for 32 out of 39 days. He was the 12th person to be voted out. He then became the fifth member of the jury. The jury decides who wins the game.

Tyler started the game on the Masaya tribe, also known as the White Collar tribe. He quickly made friends and formed an alliance with Joaquin Souberbielle and Carolyn Rivera. When the tribes were mixed up, he moved to the Escameca tribe. There, he joined up with Joaquin and Rodney Lavoie Jr. in a new alliance. However, Joaquin was voted out in a surprise move.

After the tribes merged into one, Tyler was part of a group of six players. This group included himself, Carolyn, Rodney, Will Sims II, Dan Foley, and Sierra Thomas. This alliance worked together to vote out other players. They then tried to vote out a strong player named Mike Holloway.

However, Mike kept winning challenges that protected him. He also had a special Hidden Immunity Idol. When Mike used his idol, it canceled out the votes against him. This meant Tyler was voted out instead. His close friend Carolyn voted against him. She later explained that she knew Tyler was a big threat to win the game. Tyler seemed okay with her explanation. He still voted for Mike Holloway to win the show.

Life After Football

During his last year at Cal, Tyler made a documentary. It was called Countdown to Kickoff 2003. The film was about the 2003 California Golden Bears football team. Tyler directed, edited, and even starred in it.

In 2010, he earned his second master's degree. He graduated from the Peter Stark Producing Program. This program is at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Before appearing on Survivor, he worked at Creative Artists Agency (CAA). This is a well-known entertainment and sports agency in Los Angeles.

Tyler now works as a film and TV development executive. He helps create new movies and TV shows. He is currently working with actress Joey King.
