A Look at Union City's Past
Union City officially became a city in 1908. This happened thanks to the Georgia General Assembly, which is like the state's law-making body.
There are a couple of ideas about how Union City got its name. Some people believe it was named because it was a place where different railroad tracks came together, forming a "union." Another story says the name came from a group called the "Farmer's Union," which used to have its main office in the area.
