Universal City is a city in Texas, United States. It is mostly in Bexar County, with a small part in Guadalupe County. This city is a suburb of San Antonio, located northeast of it. It is also right next to Randolph Air Force Base.
Universal City shares borders with other towns. To its east is Schertz, Texas, to its north is Selma, to its west is Live Oak, and to its southwest is Converse. In 2020, about 19,720 people lived here. Universal City is part of the larger San Antonio Metropolitan Area.

Universal City is a lively place in Texas, known for being close to Randolph Air Force Base. It's a community where many people live and work. The city's motto, "The Gateway to Randolph AFB," shows how important the base is to the area.
A Look at Its Past
The first part of what became Universal City was planned out on January 30, 1931. Later, on April 20, 1960, Universal City officially became its own city. This means it could set its own rules and manage its own services.
The main road that runs through Universal City is Pat Booker Road. This road is also known as State Highway 218. It's the most important street for businesses and shops in the city.
Where is Universal City?
Universal City is located in south-central Texas. Its exact center is about 15 miles (24 km) northeast of downtown San Antonio.
The United States Census Bureau says that the city covers about 5.7 square miles (14.7 square kilometers). All of this area is land. A small part of Randolph Field, which is an air force base, also extends into Universal City's city limits.

The people living in Universal City come from many different backgrounds. In 2020, about 41.18% of the people were White (not Hispanic or Latino). About 9.53% were Black or African American. People of Asian descent made up about 3.43% of the population. About 39.6% of the people were Hispanic or Latino.
In 2010, the average household had about 2.45 people. The average family had about 3.00 people. About 29.3% of households had children under 18 living with them.
The median age of people in the city was 36.1 years. This means half the people were younger than 36.1 and half were older.
Schools and Learning
Universal City has several school districts that serve its students. These include the Judson, Randolph Field, and Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School Districts.
There are also two private schools for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. These are First Baptist Academy of Universal City (FBA) and Calvary Chapel Christian Academy (CCCA).
For those who want to continue their education after high school, Northeast Lakeview Community College is located in Universal City. It is part of the Alamo Colleges system. The city also has its own public library, the Universal City Public Library, where everyone can find books and resources.
