Upper Bear Creek is a special community in Clear Creek County, Colorado, United States. It's known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population, but it doesn't have its own city government.
Upper Bear Creek is part of the larger Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2020, about 984 people lived there. The local post office that serves this area is in Evergreen.

History of Upper Bear Creek
The area around Upper Bear Creek has a very interesting past. Back in the 1920s, there was a fancy hotel called Troutdale in the Pines. It was a popular spot for Hollywood movie stars and important people. Many people from Denver also came here to escape the summer heat.
Other vacation spots, like the Greystone Guest Ranch and the Brookforest Inn, also opened up. More recently, famous people like Willie Nelson, Lee Majors, and Farrah Fawcett have lived in Upper Bear Creek.
Outdoor Learning at Mt. Evans
The Mt. Evans Outdoor Lab School is also located in Upper Bear Creek. This school is part of the Jefferson County Public Schools. Many 6th graders from Jefferson County get to spend a week here. They stay in cabins and learn about nature. They study things like trees, stars, and how pioneers lived.
Upper Bear Creek is thought to be one of the nicest areas in Evergreen. It's known for great trout fishing, peaceful meadows, and amazing views of Mount Evans.
