Urbana is a town located in Steuben County, New York, in the United States. In 2020, about 2,125 people lived there.
The Town of Urbana is found in the northeastern part of Steuben County. It is located northeast of the town of Bath.

What is the History of Urbana?
Urbana was first settled by people around 1793. It officially became its own town, separating from the Town of Bath, in 1822.
Around 1829, the first grapevines were planted in Urbana. This was the beginning of the important wine industry in the area.
Urbana and its village, Hammondsport, are famous for their role in the early days of aviation. This is thanks to the amazing inventions of Glenn Curtiss.
The Timothy M. Younglove Octagon House is a special building in Urbana. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which means it's an important historical site.
What is Urbana's Geography Like?
Urbana covers a total area of about 44.2 square miles (114.4 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 41.1 square miles (106.4 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 3.0 square miles (7.8 square kilometers), is water.
The town is located at the southern end of Keuka Lake. Keuka Lake is one of the beautiful Finger Lakes in New York.
New York State Route 54A and New York State Route 54 are important roads that meet near Hammondsport.

What Communities are in Urbana?
- Cold Springs – This is a small community in the southern part of the town. It is southwest of Hermitage.
- Glen Grove – This community is located right on the shore of Keuka Lake. It is south of the Urbana Hamlet on NY-54A.
- Hammondsport – This is a village at the southern end of Keuka Lake. You can find it on NY-54A.
- Hermitage – This is another small community in the southwest part of the town.
- Mitchellsville – This community is on the western edge of the town, along County Road 13.
- North Urbana – This community is located on the eastern edge of the town.
- Pleasant Valley – This community is south of Rheims, located on County Road 88.
- Rheims – This community is west of Hammondsport. The Pleasant Valley Wine Company is a historic site here.
- Urbana – This is the main community, or hamlet, of Urbana. It is in the northeastern part of the town, also on the shore of Keuka Lake and NY-54A. The Timothy M. Younglove Octagon House is located here.
