Valdallière is a special type of town or district in France called a commune. It is located in the department of Calvados, which is in northwestern France.
History of Valdallière
Valdallière was created on January 1, 2016. It was formed by joining together 14 smaller communes. These communes included Vassy, which became the main town or "seat" of Valdallière.
The other communes that joined were Bernières-le-Patry, Burcy, Chênedollé, Le Désert, Estry, Montchamp, Pierres, Presles, La Rocque, Rully, Saint-Charles-de-Percy, Le Theil-Bocage, and Viessoix.
Geography and Nature
Valdallière is part of a larger natural area. This area is very important for nature conservation. It is called the Bassin de la Druance.
This special area covers about 5,729 hectares. Valdallière shares a part of this area with nine other communes. It is recognized as a Natura 2000 conservation area. This means it is protected to help keep its natural habitats and wildlife safe.
