The Valentine River (also known as rivière Valentine in French) is a river in northeastern Ontario, Canada. It flows through the northern part of Cochrane District. This river is part of the large Moose River drainage basin. It eventually flows into Lac Pivabiska, which is the starting point for the Pivabiska River.

River's Journey

The Valentine River starts at Valentine Lake. This lake is located in an area called Stoddart Township. From there, the river flows towards the northeast. Along its way, it meets the Little Valentine River, which joins it from the right side.

The river then flows north, passing under Ontario Highway 11. It also goes under the Ontario Northland Railway line. This railway connects Calstock and Cochrane. The river continues north and enters Fushimi Provincial Park.

Inside the park, the Valentine River flows into Fushimi Lake. It is the main river feeding this lake. After leaving the park and Fushimi Lake, the river heads east. It flows over a spot called The Chutes and then into Hanlan Lake.

Finally, the river turns southeast. It flows past a small settlement called Fontaine's Landing. It then enters Wolverine Lake. The Valentine River continues east from Wolverine Lake. Its journey ends when it reaches Lac Pivabiska. From Lac Pivabiska, the water flows into the Pivabiska River. The Pivabiska River then joins the Missinaibi River, which flows into the Moose River. The Moose River eventually empties into James Bay.
