Valle de la Pascua is an important city in Venezuela. It is the main city of the Leonardo Infante area in Guárico state. The city is located in the central plains, which are flat lands. It was started on February 25, 1785, by a priest named Father Mariano Martí.

Valle de la Pascua is one of the most important cities in Guárico state. Other key cities include Zaraza, Calabozo, and San Juan de Los Morros, which is the state capital. Valle de la Pascua is especially important for its economy. A battle called the Battle of Valle de la Pascua happened near the city in February 1814.

History of Valle de la Pascua

Valle de la Pascua was founded in the 1700s. This was part of Spain's plan to expand its presence in Venezuela. The central plains of Venezuela were then known as the Alto Llano de Caracas.

In 1726, Captain Francisco Carlos de Herrera, a local leader, gave land to José Zamora. This land included the town of La Aguada de Valle de la Pascua and a large cattle ranch. However, Spanish settlement had already begun earlier.

Francisco Zamora Granados and his brother-in-law, Gabriel Sánchez Sajonero, started cattle ranches. They arrived from Altagracia de Orituco the year before. They settled in the valley with their families, tools, and cattle.

Changes in Area Divisions

In 1824, a law divided the Province of Caracas into twelve cantons (like counties). Valle de la Pascua became part of the Chaguaramas canton.

Later, in 1848, the Province of Caracas was divided again. This time, it had four cantons and twenty-seven parishes (smaller areas). Valle de la Pascua parish was placed with the Chaguaramas canton. Other parishes like Santa María de Ipire and Espino were also in this canton.

In 1853, the Chaguaramas canton was split into two: Chaguaramas and Unare. Valle de la Pascua remained in the Chaguaramas canton.
