The other Valley Forge is about 70 miles (113 km) to the east, in Montgomery County. This other village is famous for a very important event in American history. It was the winter home for the Continental Army during the American Revolution. This was a tough time for the soldiers, but it was a key moment in the fight for American independence.
During that same winter, the Continental Congress (the group of leaders who were governing the new country) was meeting in York, which is very close to this Valley Forge. Because of this, people sometimes get the two places mixed up. The Valley Forge in Montgomery County is also a major landmark used on Interstate 76 highway signs.
