Veckatimest Island is a small, quiet island located off the coast of Massachusetts in the United States. It's part of a group of islands called the Elizabeth Islands. Even though it's small, it has a unique connection to music!
Discovering Veckatimest Island
Veckatimest Island is one of the many beautiful Elizabeth Islands. These islands are found in Dukes County, which is part of the state of Massachusetts. The island is a peaceful place, and it's not home to any people.
Size and Location
Veckatimest Island is quite small. Its land area is about 0.0675 square kilometers. To help you imagine that, it's roughly the size of 16 and a half football fields! Because it's so small, no one lives on the island. The last time a count was done in 2000, it was confirmed to be uninhabited.
A Musical Connection
You might have heard the name "Veckatimest" before, even if you didn't know it was an island! A famous band from Brooklyn, called Grizzly Bear, named their third album after this very island.
The band's founding member, Ed Droste, has a family connection to the area. His mother, Diana Forbes, is part of the Forbes family. This family owns Naushon Island, which is another island very close to Veckatimest. This special link inspired the band to name their album after the island.
