Nashawena Island is a beautiful island located in Massachusetts, United States. It is the second largest island in a group called the Elizabeth Islands. This island is part of Dukes County, Massachusetts.

Nashawena Island is a special place. It sits between two other islands. To its west, you'll find Cuttyhunk Island. To its east, there is Pasque Island.

Not many people live on Nashawena Island. According to a count in 2000, only two people lived there permanently. This makes it a very quiet and peaceful place.

Even though it's an island, Nashawena is part of a town. It belongs to the town of Gosnold, Massachusetts. Gosnold is a small town that includes all the Elizabeth Islands.

The name "Nashawena" has an interesting meaning. It comes from an old Native American word. This word means "middle island." This makes sense because Nashawena is right in the middle of the Elizabeth Islands chain.
