Verdigre is a small village located in Knox County, Nebraska, in the United States. It is known for its friendly community and a special annual festival. In 2020, about 554 people lived there.

History of Verdigre
Verdigre was officially planned and mapped out in 1887. This happened just before the Fremont, Elkhorn and Missouri Valley Railroad tracks reached the area. The village got its name from a nearby stream called Verdigre Creek.
In 1971, Verdigre was the location of an unfortunate incident during a professional wrestling match. A wrestler named Alberto Torres was injured while competing.

Kolach Days Festival
Verdigre proudly calls itself "The Kolach Capital of the World." A kolach is a tasty pastry that comes from Czech and Slovak traditions. It usually has a fruit filling, like poppy seeds, prunes, cherries, or blueberries. It's a bit like a Danish pastry.
Every summer, usually in the second week of June, Verdigre hosts a big festival to celebrate the kolach. This festival is a lot of fun and includes many activities for everyone.
