She is well-known for being the first permanent female member of The Tonight Show Band, which she joined in 1992 when Jay Leno was the host.

Vicki Randle's Musical Journey
Vicki Randle was born in San Francisco, California. She started her music career as a singer-songwriter and guitarist. She performed in various places like the Bla-Bla Cafe, McCabe's, and The Ice House. She also recorded music and toured with several artists who focused on women's music, such as Cris Williamson, Ferron, June Millington, and Linda Tillery.

Her Time with The Tonight Show Band
In May 1992, Vicki Randle made history by becoming the first female permanent member of The Tonight Show Band. She played with the band, led by Branford Marsalis, until May 2009.
When Jay Leno started his five-nights-a-week show, The Jay Leno Show, on NBC, Vicki Randle continued to play with his band. This band was renamed the "Primetime Band" and was led by Kevin Eubanks. The show began on September 14, 2009. After The Jay Leno Show ended on February 9, 2010, she returned to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and stayed until May 2010.
Solo Album and Band Projects
In 2006, Vicki Randle released her first solo album. It was called Sleep City: Lullabies for Insomniacs. The album was produced by Bonnie Hayes. Other musicians who helped with the album included Bonnie Hayes, Cris Williamson, Nina Gerber, Barbara Higbie, Teresa Trull, Linda Tillery, Freddie Washington, Herman Matthews, and Stephen Bruton. One song on the album was produced by Val Garay.
Vicki Randle is also a member of an all-female band called Skip The Needle. In this rock band, she plays bass and percussion, sings as a co-lead vocalist, and helps write songs. The other members of Skip The Needle are Shelley Doty, Kofy Brown, and Katie Cash.
In 2022, Vicki Randle joined Greg Loiacono's band as a percussionist and vocalist. She also toured as a bassist with the band MC5. This version of MC5 was led by guitarist Wayne Kramer and included singer Brad Brooks, guitarist Stevie Salas, and drummer Winston Watson.
