Victoria, Lady Starmer (born in 1973 or 1974), whose maiden name was Alexander, is a British health worker. She used to be a lawyer. She is married to Keir Starmer, who became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in 2024.

Victoria was born in London. She studied law and sociology at Cardiff University. While there, she was the president of the student union. After becoming a lawyer, she worked at a law firm called Hodge Jones & Allen. She focused on cases about street crime. Later, she started working in occupational health for the National Health Service (NHS).

Victoria married Keir Starmer in 2007. They have two children together.

Victoria's Early Life and Education

Victoria Alexander was born in London in either 1973 or 1974. She grew up in Gospel Oak, London, with her older sister. Her father, Bernard, was an economics lecturer and accountant. He was born in 1929 to a Polish-Jewish family who came to the UK before Second World War. Her mother, Barbara (who passed away in 2020), was a community doctor in the National Health Service. She became Jewish when she married Victoria's father.

Victoria went to Channing School in Highgate, London. After that, she studied law and sociology at Cardiff University. While at university, she was the president of the student union.

Her Career Journey

After finishing university, Victoria became a solicitor, which is a type of lawyer. She worked for the law firm Hodge Jones & Allen. Her main area was dealing with cases related to street crime.

Later, after she got married, she stopped working as a lawyer. She then started a new job as an occupational health worker for the NHS. This role involves helping people stay healthy and safe at work.

Victoria's Family Life

Victoria met Keir Starmer when they were both working on the same legal case. At that time, Keir was a senior barrister. They got engaged in 2004. On May 6, 2007, they got married at the Fennes Estate in Essex.

Victoria and Keir have two children. Their son was born in 2008, and their daughter was born in 2010. Both children are being raised in their mother's Jewish faith. The family observes Shabbat, which is a day of rest in Judaism.

Victoria is a vegetarian, meaning she does not eat meat. Before moving to 10 Downing Street, the family lived in Kentish Town, north London.

Victoria has supported the Labour Party since her student days. For example, in 1993, she protested against education changes when she was a student officer at Cardiff University. Even so, she generally kept a low profile during the 2024 United Kingdom general election. She did not often appear on the campaign trail. However, she did attend some Labour events and official banquets during the election period.

Supporting the Prime Minister

After the Labour Party won the 2024 general election by a large amount, Victoria went with her husband to Buckingham Palace. There, King Charles III officially appointed Keir Starmer as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. She then went with him to 10 Downing Street, where he gave his first speech as Prime Minister. Victoria plans to continue working in her role at the NHS. She is expected to keep a relatively private life.
