Viktoria Valeriyevna Abramchenko (born on May 22, 1975) is an important Russian politician and economist. She has been a Deputy Chairwoman of the State Duma since September 2024. Before this, she served as a Deputy Prime Minister of Russia from January 2020 to May 2024. In that role, she was in charge of areas like farming, natural resources, and the environment.

About Viktoria Abramchenko
Her Early Life and Studies
Viktoria Abramchenko was born in Chernogorsk, a city in what was then the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. This area is now part of Russia.
She studied at the Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University, finishing in 1998. Later, in 2004, she also graduated from the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation. These studies helped her prepare for a career in government.
Her Work in Government
Viktoria Abramchenko has held many important jobs in the Russian government. She started her career working with land resources and land management.
Key Roles She Held
From 1998 to 2005, she worked in different departments dealing with land and property. She held various positions, including a deputy head role in government agencies.
Later, she joined the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia. Here, she became the Deputy Director of the Real Estate Department. In 2011, she was appointed Deputy Head of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography. This agency deals with registering land and property.
From 2012 to 2015, she worked in the Ministry of Agriculture. She was in charge of land policy and property matters. Then, from 2015 to 2016, she became the Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
Becoming Deputy Prime Minister
From October 2016 to January 2020, Viktoria Abramchenko was the Deputy Minister of Economic Development. She also led the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography.
On January 21, 2020, she was appointed as a Deputy Prime Minister of Russia. In this big role, she oversaw important areas like farming, fishing, forests, and protecting the environment. She also worked on issues related to the Siberian region. She served in this position until May 2024.
Her Role in the State Duma
After leaving her role as Deputy Prime Minister, Viktoria Abramchenko ran for a seat in the State Duma. The State Duma is like one of the main parts of the Russian parliament. She won the election in the Southern constituency in Rostov Oblast with a large number of votes.
Soon after her election, on September 17, 2024, she was chosen to be a Deputy Chairwoman of the State Duma. This is a very important leadership position in the parliament. She is a member of the United Russia political party.
International Recognition
In December 2022, the EU (European Union) placed some restrictions on Viktoria Abramchenko. These types of restrictions are sometimes called sanctions. They are used by countries or groups of countries to show disapproval of certain actions or policies.
