The house Vilamajó built in 1930 is very important. It was the first modern house in Uruguay to become a museum. Around the world, many homes of famous architects like Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier have also become museums. This shows how special these buildings are.

The Vilamajó House was carefully brought back to life. Experts worked hard to restore the building and its features. They also fixed up the inside, including the original furniture, artwork, and personal items. This means visitors can now see how the professor's home looked back then. Even the gardens were redesigned to include the plants that were there originally. In 2010, the museum project was recognized as very important for culture and art.

What You Can See and Do

The house itself is a modern and unique work of art. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1990. This means it's a very important historical building. The house is the perfect place for a permanent exhibition about Vilamajó's work. It also hosts temporary exhibitions. These shows are not just about architecture and design. They also cover other related art forms.

The museum offers many activities. You can take guided tours to learn more about the house and its history. They also host book presentations and special events. The museum works with other places like the School of Architecture and other museums in Uruguay and other countries.
