Vincent Malik Edwards, born on April 5, 1996, is an American professional basketball player. He last played for the Seoul Samsung Thunders in the Korean Basketball League (KBL). Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for Purdue University.

College Basketball Journey

Edwards chose to play for Purdue after high school. He was a small forward who could play many different roles on the court. He started playing right away in his first year. He was even named the Big Ten Conference freshman of the week three times.

Sophomore and Junior Seasons

In his second year, Edwards scored about 11.3 points and grabbed 5.4 rebounds per game. He thought about joining the NBA draft but decided to stay at Purdue. During his third year, he averaged 12.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. He was named to the third-team All-Big Ten. He scored his highest points in a game, 26, against Indiana in February 2017. Edwards was a key player for Purdue, especially in the NCAA tournament.

Senior Year and Purdue Records

After his junior year, Edwards again thought about joining the NBA draft. But he chose to return to Purdue for his final year. As a senior, he averaged 14.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. He shot very well, making 47.6 percent of his shots and 39.8 percent of his three-pointers. He was chosen for the Second Team All-Big Ten. Edwards finished his college career with 1,638 points, 779 rebounds, and 403 assists. He started 125 games, which is the second-most for a Purdue player.

Professional Basketball Career

Vincent Edwards began his professional career in 2018. He has played for several teams in different leagues around the world.

Starting with the Houston Rockets

On June 21, 2018, the Utah Jazz picked Edwards as the 52nd player in the 2018 NBA draft. He was then traded to the Houston Rockets. The Rockets officially signed him in July 2018. Edwards mostly played for the Rockets' G League team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He helped the Vipers win the G League championship. He averaged 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for them.

Playing for the Oklahoma City Blue

In October 2019, Edwards joined the Oklahoma City Blue. On February 11, 2020, he had an amazing game. He scored 35 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and added other stats in a big win. He averaged 11.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in 29 games for the Blue.

Time with the Canton Charge

On February 16, 2020, Edwards was traded to the Canton Charge. He played a few games for them, averaging 3.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1 assist.

Back to the Blue and Other Teams

Edwards briefly signed with the Sacramento Kings in December 2020. He then returned to the Oklahoma City Blue in January 2021. In October 2021, he signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves but was waived shortly after. He then joined the Iowa Wolves. In 2022, Edwards played for the Titanes del Distrito Nacional in the Dominican Republic.

Playing in Europe and Israel

In July 2022, Edwards signed with BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque in France. He played there until 2023. In August 2023, he moved to Israel to play for Ironi Ness Ziona. Later in November 2023, he signed with Mitteldeutscher BC in Germany.

Most Recent Team: Seoul Samsung Thunders

In December 2024, Edwards joined the Seoul Samsung Thunders in South Korea. He played for them for a short period.

International Experience

Edwards was part of the Purdue team that represented the United States in the 2017 Summer Universiade. This big sports event was held in Taipei. His team won a silver medal in basketball.

Family Life

Vincent Edwards' father is Bill Edwards. Bill Edwards was also a basketball player who played for Wright State and in the NBA.
