Voladoras is a community, also known as a barrio, located in the town of Moca, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 4,710 people lived there. It is a part of Puerto Rico, which is a commonwealth of the United States.
History of Voladoras
After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a special area of the U.S. called an unincorporated territory.
In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census in Puerto Rico. A census is like a big count of all the people living in an area. This count showed that 1,267 people lived in the Voladoras community at that time.
