Vonteego Marfeek Cummings (born February 29, 1976) is an American who used to play professional basketball. He played as a point guard or shooting guard. Vonteego played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the United States. He also had a very good career playing basketball in different countries in Europe. His last team was the Atenienses de Manatí in Puerto Rico.

Playing in the NBA

Vonteego Cummings was chosen by the Indiana Pacers in the 1999 NBA Draft. He was the 26th player picked in the first round. Right after being drafted, he was traded to the Golden State Warriors. He played for the Warriors for two seasons.

During his first year (1999-2000), Vonteego played in 75 games. He started 11 of those games. On average, he scored 9.4 points and made 3.3 assists per game. An assist is when you pass the ball to a teammate, and they score right after.

In his second season (2000-01), he played 66 games. He averaged 7.3 points and 3.4 assists. Before the 2001-02 season, Vonteego was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. He played 58 games for them, averaging 3.3 points and 1 assist.

In total, Vonteego Cummings played in 199 NBA games. He averaged 6.9 points and 2.7 assists during his time in the league.

Playing Basketball in Europe

After his NBA career, Vonteego started playing basketball overseas. In 2003, he played for the Westchester Wildfire in the United States Basketball League (USBL). Then, he moved to Italy to play for Carisbo Castelmaggiore in the 2003-04 season.

He returned to the Westchester Wildfire briefly in 2004. After that, he went back to Europe. He joined the Serbian team Hemofarm for the 2004-05 season.

In 2005-06, Vonteego started with the Fort Worth Flyers in the NBA Development League (NBDL). But in February 2006, he went back to Serbia. He signed with Partizan Belgrade. He played very well for Partizan, especially in the Euroleague. The Euroleague is a top basketball competition for clubs in Europe.

His strong performance led him to play for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. He then played for Estudiantes in Spain. After that, he had another time in Serbia with Vojvodina Srbijagas. He also played for Cedevita in Croatia.

Vonteego then moved to Greece and played for Ilysiakos in 2009-10. The next season, he played for Keravnos in Cyprus. In 2011, he signed with the Polish team Trefl Sopot.

Comeback in Puerto Rico

After not playing for a few years, Vonteego Cummings made a comeback. On January 21, 2015, he signed with the Atenienses de Manatí. This team plays in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) league in Puerto Rico. He played a few games before being released in March 2015.
