Wake Village is a city located in Bowie County, Texas, in the United States. It is a smaller town right next to Texarkana, Texas, and is part of the larger Texarkana area. In 2020, about 5,945 people lived there.

A Look Back at Wake Village's History
Wake Village was started in 1944 during World War II. Its main purpose was to provide homes for people who worked at important factories like the Red River Army Depot and the Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant. These plants helped with the war effort.
The city's name comes from Wake Island, a place in the Pacific Ocean that was important during the war. In the early 1950s, more than 1,000 people lived in Wake Village. By the early 1990s, the population grew to 4,400, and by 2000, it was 5,129.
Some of the older parts of Wake Village have street names related to World War II. You might find streets named Manila, Guam, Singapore, Arizona, or Burma Victory. Other neighborhoods built in the 1950s have names like Esther and Marianna.
Where is Wake Village?
Wake Village is in the eastern part of Bowie County, just west of Texarkana. You can find it where Farm to Market Road 989 meets Old Redwater Road. It's north of U.S. Route 67 and south of U.S. Route 82. The city of Nash is right to the north, also along FM 989.
The city covers a total area of about 6.0 square kilometers (or 2.3 square miles). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water inside the city limits.
