Walcourt is a city and a municipality in Wallonia, a region in Belgium. It is located in the province of Namur.

History of Walcourt
Walcourt has a long and interesting history. One of its most famous buildings is the Basilica of Saint Maternus. This church was built in 1026. It is a Gothic style church, known for its tall arches and stained glass. Inside, you can find one of the oldest statues of the Madonna (Mary, the mother of Jesus) in Western Christianity.
A significant event in Walcourt's history was the Battle of Walcourt. This battle happened in 1689. It was fought between French troops and a group called the Grand Alliance. This battle was part of a larger conflict known as the Nine Years' War.
