Walker is a small city located in Vernon County, Missouri, in the United States. In 2020, about 199 people lived there. It's a quiet place in the heart of Missouri.
History of Walker
Walker began when a railroad line was built to that spot. The town was officially planned out in 1870. It was named after an early resident called Hiram F. Walker. A post office opened in Walker in 1871. The city officially became a city in 1886.
Where is Walker?
Walker is located where two Missouri roads, Route C and Route AA, meet. It is about seven miles northeast of Nevada. The community of Harwood is also nearby, about 5.5 miles to the northeast.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of about 0.31 square miles (0.81 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
