Lake Walsh is a freshwater lake found in Jacques-Cartier National Park in Quebec, Canada. A stream from Fragasso Lake flows into its western side for about 0.44 kilometres (0.27 mi).

The lake is located in an area called Lac-Jacques-Cartier. This is part of the La Côte-de-Beaupré Regional County Municipality in the Capitale-Nationale region.

You can reach the area around Lake Walsh using Route 175. This road connects the cities of Quebec and Saguenay. Other smaller roads are used for logging and for people visiting for fun.

The main activity here is forestry, which means cutting down trees. After that, tourism, like hiking and fishing, is the next most popular activity.

Lake Walsh usually freezes over from early December until late March. It's generally safe to walk or play on the ice from late December to early March.

About Walsh Lake

Walsh Lake is about 1.1 kilometres (0.68 mi) long and 0.6 kilometres (0.37 mi) wide. It sits high up in the mountains, at an altitude of 742 metres (2,434 ft). The lake has a unique shape, looking a bit like a large upside-down "V".

Water from Fragasso Lake flows into the west side of Lake Walsh. This stream travels about 0.44 kilometres (0.27 mi) to a dam at the end of Lake Walsh.

Nearby Lakes and Rivers

Walsh Lake covers an area of 34 hectares (84 acres). In 2005, a dam was built at the end of the lake. This dam helps control the water level, allowing it to hold water up to 2.4 metres (7 ft 10 in) deep.

Water Flow from Walsh Lake

From the dam at Walsh Lake, the water flows west for about 1.2 kilometres (0.75 mi). Then, it turns north and empties into the western part of lac des Alliés.

From lac des Alliés, the water travels north for 1.3 kilometres (0.81 mi). It then joins the water from the Rocheuse River. The combined water then crosses 2.7 kilometres (1.7 mi) of lac des Alliés to its outlet.

After that, the water follows the Rocheuse River for 3.8 kilometres (2.4 mi). It then flows southwest along the rivière du Malin for 4.6 kilometres (2.9 mi). Finally, it joins the Jacques-Cartier River and flows south to the Saint-Laurent river.
