War is a small city in McDowell County, West Virginia, in the United States. In 2020, about 690 people lived there. The city was officially started in 1920. It got its name from War Creek, which flows into another stream called Dry Fork right in the city. War is special because it's the only place in the whole United States with this name! Long ago, it was also known as Miner's City.

A railway station used to be in War. It was part of the Norfolk Southern Railway line.
