Journey of the Warta River
The Warta River begins its journey in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. This is a hilly area near a town called Kromołów, which is part of Zawiercie. The river starts in the Silesian Voivodeship region of Poland.
From there, the Warta flows through several different areas. It goes through the Łódź Voivodeship, a historical region called Greater Poland (Wielkopolska), and the Lubusz Voivodeship. Finally, the Warta River empties into the Oder River. This happens in a town called Kostrzyn nad Odrą, right on the border with Germany.
The land around the Warta River is very important to Poland's history. The Polans tribe, who were early Polish people, lived here a long time ago. They settled in this area starting in the 8th century (the 700s CE). The Warta River is even mentioned in Poland's national anthem, Mazurek Dąbrowskiego. You can find it in the second verse of the song!
