Wayne is a small town in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, United States. In 2010, about 490 people lived there.
History of Wayne
The town of Wayne was named after a famous general from the American Revolutionary War. His name was "Mad" Anthony Wayne.
Geography of Wayne
Wayne is located in the southeast corner of Lafayette County. To the east, it shares a border with Green County. To the south, it borders Jo Daviess and Stephenson counties in Illinois.
The village of South Wayne is a separate community. It is surrounded by the northeast part of the town of Wayne.
The town covers about 95.2 square kilometers (36.7 square miles) of land. Only a very small part, about 0.09 square kilometers (0.035 square miles), is water. The Pecatonica River flows through the northern part of the town. This river is a branch of the Rock River.
