WeberHaus GmbH & Co. KG is a German company that builds houses. They specialize in "prefabricated" houses. This means the houses are mostly built in a factory. Then, they are put together on the building site.

The main office and one of their factories are in Rheinau-Linx, Germany. WeberHaus is a family-owned business. They make single-family homes, multi-family homes, and even commercial buildings from wood. About 1,140 people work for WeberHaus. This includes young people learning a trade.

Where WeberHaus Builds Houses

WeberHaus has two main factories. One is in Rheinau-Linx, and the other is in Wenden-Hünsborn. In 2017, they built 745 houses for people across Europe.

Besides Germany, WeberHaus also builds homes in several other countries. These include France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Switzerland.

How WeberHaus Started and Grew

Bennett WeberHaus
Hans Weber, the founder of WeberHaus.

The story of WeberHaus began in 1960. A man named Hans Weber took over a small carpentry business. This business was in Rheinau-Linx. It focused on building homes using a method called "timber frame." This means the house's structure is made from strong wooden beams.

In 1961, WeberHaus built its first three prefabricated houses. During the 1970s, the first factory buildings were set up in Linx. WeberHaus then started building only their own house designs. In 1978, they opened a second factory in Wenden-Hünsborn.

In 1985, WeberHaus opened something new. It was the first "builders center" in their industry. This center was at their main office in Rheinau-Linx. It was a big hall where future customers could see sample house parts. They could also get advice about building their dream home.

In 1991, WeberHaus was the first house builder to make "low-energy construction" standard. This means their houses were designed to use less energy. In 1993, they opened their first branch in Switzerland. In 2000, WeberHaus opened the "World of Living." This is a special theme park about building and living. It's located at their Rheinau-Linx headquarters. Since 2006, WeberHaus has also offered "Plus Energy Houses." These houses create more energy than they use!

Hans Weber and his wife Christa Weber are still involved. Their daughter, Heidi Weber-Mühleck, is also a managing partner.

Caring for the Environment

WeberHaus has always cared about the environment. Since 1990, all their houses have been "low-energy houses." This helps save energy and money.

In 1996, they created the first "zero-heating house." This special house used solar panels to make hot water and electricity. In 2000, they built their first "passive house." These houses are super insulated and use very little energy for heating. Then, in 2006, came the "plus energy house." As mentioned, these houses actually produce more energy than they need!

Every WeberHaus home today has an "ecological building shell." This means the outside of the house is built with materials like wood fiber insulation. This insulation helps keep the house warm in winter and cool in summer. It also helps block out noise.

The World of Living Park

In October 2000, WeberHaus opened the "World of Living." This is at their main location in Rheinau-Linx. It's Europe's first and only adventure park about building and living.

The park is very large, covering 75,000 square meters. It has a huge showroom that is 5,000 square meters. The "World of Living" is a place where people can get ideas for their homes. They can see different designs and imagine their future house. The park also has the "Universe of Time." This shows how home designs have changed throughout history. There's also a village with full-size show homes you can walk through!
