In 2018, Wei started a company called Guangzhou Nalisha Education Consulting Co., Ltd. This company studies gender issues and offers education and training. It also provides support to people who face unfair treatment.
The Feminist Five
In 2015, Wei Tingting and four other activists were detained. These activists were Zheng Churan, Wang Man, Wu Rongrong, and Li Tingting. They are known together as the "Feminist Five". They were detained just before International Women's Day.
After 37 days, all five women were released. If they had been found guilty, they could have faced up to three years in prison. This was for "creating a disturbance." After her release, Wei said she would keep fighting for equality. She shared her thoughts:
I have read so many reports and articles about our arrest and they are so touching and encouraging. I had started to feel despondent and thought this incident would be the end for us young, female activists. But the reaction has started an era of magnificent, new activists. They cannot catch all of us and block us all.
