Wenceslao Carrillo Alonso-Forjador (born 9 October 1889 in Valladolid, Spain – died 7 November 1963 in Charleroi, Belgium) was an important Spanish political leader. He was known for his work with the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, a political group in Spain. He was also the father of Santiago Carrillo, another well-known politician.
Early Life and Political Beginnings
Wenceslao Carrillo was born in the city of Valladolid, Spain. He grew up and became interested in politics. He joined the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, which is a political party that believes in social equality and helping all people.
Role in Spanish Politics
Carrillo became a key figure in his party. He was part of a group within the party known as the "Caballerists." This group followed the ideas of another leader named Largo Caballero.
During a difficult time in Spanish history, he was involved in a political event called "Casado's coup" in March 1939. This event happened near the end of the Spanish Civil War. After the war ended, Wenceslao Carrillo had to leave Spain. He moved to Belgium, where he lived until his death in 1963.
