Wendi McLendon-Covey is an American actress and comedian. She was born on October 10, 1969. She is best known for her funny roles and for being great at making things up on the spot (improvisation). From 2013 to 2023, she played Beverly Goldberg, the mom of the family, in the TV show The Goldbergs on ABC. For this role, she was nominated for two Critics' Choice Television Awards.
Wendi grew up in Long Beach, California. After high school, she worked different jobs. She later earned a degree from California State University, Long Beach in 2000. After college, she joined The Groundlings, a famous comedy group in Los Angeles. She was a member until 2009.

Early Roles and Comedy Shows
Her first big role was as Deputy Clementine Johnson in the comedy show Reno 911!. This show was all about improvisation and ran from 2003 to 2008, and then again from 2020 to 2022. She also had a main role in the comedy show Lovespring International in 2006. Wendi appeared in movies like Bewitched (2005) and Over Her Dead Body (2008). She also had a regular role on the CBS sitcom Rules of Engagement from 2010 to 2013.
Breaking Out in Movies
Wendi had a very popular role in the 2011 comedy movie Bridesmaids. This movie helped her become even more well-known. After Bridesmaids, she appeared in many other films. These include What to Expect When You're Expecting (2012), The Single Moms Club (2014), and Blended (2014). She also starred in Think Like a Man Too (2014) and Hello, My Name Is Doris (2015).
Starring in The Goldbergs
In 2013, Wendi McLendon-Covey got the main role in the ABC comedy series The Goldbergs. She played Beverly Goldberg, a loving and sometimes over-the-top mom. People really loved her performance in this show. She was nominated for a Critics' Choice Television Award in 2014 for her role. The show was very successful and ran for ten years, with 229 episodes. Wendi also helped produce the series.
Recent Work
Wendi continued to take on different roles. In 2018, she was in the horror-comedy movie Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween. She also co-starred in the romantic comedy What Men Want in 2019. Since 2018, she has been the voice of Nancy Green in the animated Disney Channel series Big City Greens. In 2019, she took on a more serious role in the drama film Blush. She also appeared in Sylvie's Love (2020) and Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (2021).
In 2023, Wendi McLendon-Covey lent her voice to the animated movie Elemental. She also played a real-life character, Vicky White, in the Lifetime movie Bad Romance: The Vicky White Story.
Personal Life
Wendi McLendon-Covey has been married to Greg Covey since 1996. Greg works as a property manager.
