West Alton is a small city in St. Charles County, Missouri, United States. In 2020, about 359 people lived there. It sits at the very end of a piece of land where the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers meet. West Alton is located right across the river from Alton, Illinois.

History of West Alton
A post office opened in West Alton in 1895. The community got its name because it is on the western side of the Mississippi River. It is directly opposite the city of Alton, Illinois.
Geography and Location
West Alton covers an area of about 37 square miles (96 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, but a good portion is also water. The city is found where two important roads meet: U.S. Route 67 and Missouri Route 94.
