History of West Harrison
When the first settlers arrived in West Harrison, they discovered many mounds built by Native Americans. The town of West Harrison was officially started in 1813. This was the same year its nearby "twin city," Harrison, Ohio, was also founded.
Geography and Location
West Harrison is located right next to the state line between Indiana and Ohio. It sits just across from Harrison, Ohio. A street called State Street divides the two towns.
According to information from 2010, West Harrison covers a total area of about 0.23 square miles (0.59 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 0.22 square miles (0.57 square kilometers), is land. A very small part, about 0.008 square miles (0.02 square kilometers), is water.
