West Milwaukee is a small village located in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, in the United States. It's found right in the middle of the county, about a mile south of American Family Field. In 2020, about 4,114 people lived there.

Village History

West Milwaukee became an official village in 1906. It was set up this way to offer lower taxes for businesses and factories. This helped industries grow in the area.

According to the census from 2010, there were 4,206 people living in West Milwaukee. These people lived in 1,979 households, with 856 of them being families.

The village had about 3,755 people per square mile (1,450 per square kilometer). There were also 2,145 housing units, like houses and apartments.

Most residents were White (69.4%). Other groups included African American (10.2%), Native American (0.8%), and Asian (3.2%). About 12.1% were from other races, and 4.3% were from two or more races. A large portion, 25.4%, identified as Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, 25.7% of households had children under 18. About 25.7% were married couples. Some households had a female head (12.5%) or a male head (5.1%) without a spouse. Many households (56.7%) were not families. Almost half (45.6%) of all households had just one person living alone. About 9.3% of these single-person households were people aged 65 or older.

The average household had 2.12 people, and the average family had 3.14 people. The average age in the village was 34.7 years. About 22.3% of residents were under 18. People aged 25 to 44 made up the largest group at 32.8%. The village had slightly more males (52.0%) than females (48.0%).
