Wheaton is a city in Minnesota, United States. It is the main city, also called the county seat, of Traverse County, Minnesota. This means it's where the county government offices are located. In 2020, about 1,460 people lived in Wheaton.

History of Wheaton
Wheaton has had a post office since 1884. It became the county seat in 1886. The city was named after Daniel Thompson Wheaton. He was a surveyor who worked for the railroad.
One important building in Wheaton is the Wheaton Depot. It was built around 1906. This building is special because it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This list includes places important to the history of the United States.
Geography and Location
Wheaton is located along the Mustinka River. The city covers an area of about 1.80 square miles (4.50 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
Two main roads go through Wheaton. These are U.S. Highway 75 and Minnesota State Highway 27. These highways help people travel to and from the city.
