Whitehall is a city in Ohio, United States. It is located about 6.6 miles (10.6 km) east of Columbus, the state capital. Whitehall is in Franklin County.
In 2020, about 20,127 people lived in Whitehall. The city was founded in 1947. It is a growing suburb of Columbus. Many different cultures and races make up Whitehall's population. Over half of the people identify as Black, African American, Hispanic, or Latino. Also, about 20% of residents speak a language other than English at home.

History of Whitehall
In the 1940s and 1950s, Whitehall had many working farms. It was an area with different income levels and mostly small houses. In the 1940s, Whitehall was still a village. Residents officially asked for it to become a town in 1947.
In 1952, Whitehall's borders grew to the east. They reached the country club and Big Walnut Creek. The city grew very quickly during the 1950s. This fast growth meant it became a city.
The first shopping center strip in the country opened in Whitehall in 1948. It was called Casto's Town and Country. The historic National Road also passed through Whitehall.
Whitehall's Geography
Whitehall covers about 5.29 square miles (13.7 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, and a small part is water. Big Walnut Creek flows through the city.
Whitehall is a suburban community near Columbus, Ohio. It is also close to John Glenn Columbus International Airport. The 338th Army Band is located there. They are at the Defense Supply Center, Columbus.

Big Walnut Creek and the Columbus Country Club form the eastern border of Whitehall. The country club is actually part of the City of Columbus.

Whitehall's Economy and Growth
Whitehall has been growing and changing a lot recently. Since 2012, over $228 million in new income and business profits have been added. Also, $65 million has been invested in the city since 2010.
In 2019, 41 new businesses opened in Whitehall. The Whitehall Community Park YMCA also opened. The Wasserstrom Company moved its headquarters to Whitehall in 2018. Their new building is 50,000 square feet and has 225 employees.
New Developments in Whitehall
In 2016, the city bought some older apartments. They sold them to a private company. This company is turning the area into a new $50 million development called Norton Crossing.
Norton Crossing will include The Lofts at Norton Crossing. These are 360 new luxury apartments near downtown Columbus. There will also be a restaurant, offices, and shops. The first people moved into these new homes in July 2020.
In 2019, the city bought a 35-acre property called Woodcliff Commons. This property will be developed into new commercial and office spaces. It will also have shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The plan includes new ways to get around, access to green spaces, and hundreds of new homes.
