Whitworth is a place in County Durham, England. It used to be a special kind of local area called a civil parish. Think of a civil parish as a small local district with its own local government. Today, Whitworth is part of a larger area known as Spennymoor.

In 1931, about 6,096 people lived in the Whitworth parish. However, on April 1, 1937, the Whitworth parish, along with a few others, was officially ended. These areas were then combined to create the new, larger parish of Spennymoor.
