William Patrick Clark, Jr. (born October 23, 1931 – died August 10, 2013) was an American rancher, judge, and important public servant. He worked closely with President Ronald Reagan. Clark held several key roles in the U.S. government during the 1980s.

William P. Clark, Jr. was born on October 23, 1931. His birthplace was Oxnard, California. He grew up as a Catholic.
Clark was married to Johanna "Joan" Brauner. They had five children together. Their names were Monica, Peter, Nina, Colin, and Paul. Joan passed away in April 2009.
A Career in Public Service
Clark had a long career serving the public. He started as a judge in California. Later, he moved to important roles in the U.S. government.
Serving as a Judge
From 1969 to 1971, Clark was a judge. He served on the Superior Court of California. Then, from 1973 to 1981, he became an associate justice. This was on the California State Supreme Court.
Working for President Reagan
William P. Clark, Jr. joined President Ronald Reagan's team. He held three major positions.
Deputy Secretary of State
From 1981 to 1982, Clark was the Deputy Secretary of State. This role helps the Secretary of State manage foreign relations.
