Winfield (pronounced WIN-feeld) is a small town located in Lake County, Indiana. It's part of Winfield Township, Lake County, Indiana. The town was officially created, or incorporated, in 1993. This was done to help its residents stay together and not become part of other nearby towns.

Before 1993, Winfield was an unincorporated area within Winfield Township. This means it didn't have its own town government. The town is named after a famous military leader, General Winfield Scott. Even though it's its own town, Winfield uses the same post office and ZIP code as nearby Crown Point, Indiana.

In 2014, Winfield started its own police department, called the Marshal Department. Before that, police services were provided by the Lake County Sheriff's Department.

Winfield is located in Indiana, a state in the United States. According to the 2020 census, the town covers an area of about 12 square miles (32 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a very small part being water.
