Wissinoming is a neighborhood in the Near Northeast part of Philadelphia, United States. It was once the location of a large estate called "Wissinoming." This estate belonged to Matthias Baldwin, who built train engines. You could find it near Tacony and Van Kirk Streets.
Today, Wissinoming has clear borders. To its west is Mayfair. To the north is Tacony. South of Bridge Street is Bridesburg. On the east, you'll find I-95 and the Delaware River. Frankford is to the southwest, also below Bridge Street.
Wissinoming uses two special mail codes, called ZIP codes: 19124 and 19135. Its physical edges are Levick Street on the north and Bridge Street on the south. I-95 and the Delaware River are on the east. Frankford Avenue forms the western border.
A stream called Wissinoming Creek used to flow through the area. It was buried underground in the 1930s. The name "Wissinoming" comes from the Lenni Lenape language. It means "where the grapes grow."

Schools in Wissinoming
Wissinoming has several schools for kids of different ages. There are two public elementary schools in the neighborhood.
Elementary Schools
- James J. Sullivan Elementary School is on Ditman Street and Sanger Street.
- Henry W. Lawton Elementary School is on Ditman Street and Benner Street.
A street called Howell Street helps decide which elementary school a child attends. If you live on the south side of Howell Street, you go to Sullivan. If you live on the north side, you go to Lawton.
Middle and High Schools
Wissinoming's neighborhood middle school is Harding Middle School. It is located on Torresdale Avenue in the Frankford area of Philadelphia.
Frankford High School is the neighborhood high school for Wissinoming students. It is found on Oxford Avenue and Wakeling Street.
Parks and Playgrounds
Wissinoming is well-known for its big green space, Wissinoming Park. It's a great place to play and relax.

You can enter Wissinoming Park from a few different spots:
- Charles Street and Comly Street
- Charles Street and Cheltenham Avenue
- Frankford Avenue and Comly Street
Playgrounds
The neighborhood also has two fun playgrounds:
- Moss Playground is home to the "Moss Eagles" teams. You can find it on Torresdale Avenue and Cheltenham Avenue.
- American Legion Playground is also known as Devereaux by local people. This is because it's located on Torresdale Avenue and Devereaux Street.
Community Safety: Police
The Philadelphia Police Department helps keep Wissinoming safe. The 15th Police District covers the area. Their station is generally located near Levick Street and Harbison Avenue.
