Witcher Creek is a small river, also called a tributary, located in West Virginia, United States. It flows into the Kanawha River, which then joins the Ohio River, and eventually the mighty Mississippi River. This means Witcher Creek is part of a huge water system that drains a large area of land.

About Witcher Creek

Witcher Creek is a stream about 6.8 miles (10.9 km) (around 11 kilometers) long. It's like a smaller river that flows into a bigger one. It helps drain water from an area of about 20.8 square miles (54 km2) (54 square kilometers). This area is part of the Allegheny Plateau, a large, high land region. The part where Witcher Creek flows was never covered by glaciers.

Where It Flows

Witcher Creek is found entirely within the eastern part of Kanawha County. It starts its journey about 1.7 miles (2.7 km) (2.7 kilometers) northwest of a place called Mammoth.

The creek then flows towards the southwest. It passes through the small community of Witcher. Finally, it empties into the Kanawha River. This meeting point is about 0.7 miles (1.1 km) (1.1 kilometers) southwest of Witcher. It's located between the town of Belle and the community of Diamond. A local road runs alongside the creek for most of its path.

Other Names

Did you know that Witcher Creek has also been known by another name? Historically, people sometimes called it "Witchers Creek." This information comes from the Geographic Names Information System, which keeps track of names for places in the United States.
