History of Woodbine
When Was Woodbine Founded?
Woodbine started in 1866. This was when the Chicago and North Western Railway was being built through the area. The town was "platted," which means its streets and land lots were officially mapped out.
It officially became a town in 1877. The city got its name from a plant called "woodbine." Many of these plants grew thickly near where the town was first built.
