Woodley Park is a super fun place in Los Angeles, California! It's a big park managed by the City of Los Angeles. You can find it in the Lake Balboa area of the San Fernando Valley.
This park is part of an even bigger area called the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area. Right next to Woodley Park, you'll find a special place called The Japanese Garden. It's a beautiful Japanese garden that is open for everyone to visit.
Fun Things to Do at Woodley Park
Woodley Park is a great spot for many outdoor activities. There's something for everyone to enjoy!
- Picnic Areas: You can bring your lunch and have a nice picnic with friends and family.
- Archery: The park has special areas for archery. There's even an archery club where people train. Some archers who practiced here have become world and Olympic champions!
Cricket: A Popular Sport
Woodley Park is famous for its five cricket fields. These fields are part of the Leo Magnus Cricket Complex. Many of the best cricket players in the Los Angeles area come here to play.
On weekends, you'll often see lots of cricket games happening. Players from countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and the Caribbean love to play here. Cricket is super popular in these countries!
The park even hosted the national cricket championships for the U.S. in 1995 and 2002.

Woodley Park is also a popular place for different events.
- Classic Car Shows: You might see cool old cars at special car shows held here.
- Bagpiping Practice: In the past, groups would practice playing bagpipes at the park.
- Boy Scout Jamboree: A big gathering for Boy Scouts from western Los Angeles County took place here in 1999.
A Place for Dogs
About 1.5 acres of Woodley Park is set aside just for dogs! This special area is called a dog park. It was created in the late 1980s. It took a while for the city to build a fence, which made it safer for dogs and people to enjoy the space.
