Woolgarlo is a small place in New South Wales, Australia. It is located right by the water's edge of Lake Burrinjuck. This lake is actually a large dam, and Woolgarlo sits on one of its "arms" where the Yass River flows in.
Woolgarlo is in the eastern part of a region called the Riverina. It is also part of the Yass Valley Shire. In 2016, only 26 people lived there, making it a very quiet spot!

Where is Woolgarlo?
Woolgarlo is found in a beautiful part of New South Wales. If you travel by road, it's about 15 kilometers (about 9 miles) northeast of a place called Burrinjuck. It's also about 17 kilometers (about 10.5 miles) southeast of Bookham.
What is Woolgarlo known for?
Woolgarlo is mostly known for its connection to Lake Burrinjuck. In the 1960s, a large property in Woolgarlo was turned into a special park. This park was for people who loved to go camping and caravanning.
Fun on the Water
The park was very popular with people who enjoyed fishing for freshwater fish. It was also a great spot for waterskiing. Imagine speeding across the lake on skis!
A Name Change
In the 1980s, the caravan park got a new name: Lake Burrinjuck Leisure Resort. Even with the new name, many local people still call it Woolgarlo. It's a name that has stuck around!
A Quick History Fact
Did you know Woolgarlo once had its own Post Office? It opened on May 1, 1870. But it didn't stay open for long and closed just two years later in 1872.
