World Chocolate Wonderland facts for kids
World Chocolate Wonderland (which means "World Chocolate Dream Park" in Chinese) is a super cool chocolate theme park in China. It was the very first park of its kind in the country! You can find it in Beijing, right near the famous Bird's Nest stadium. The park first opened its doors on January 29, 2010.
When World Chocolate Wonderland first opened, it had a special fashion show. Models wore amazing wigs and dresses made entirely out of chocolate! One model even had a dragon costume created from chocolate gold coins.
The main idea behind this park was to bring some "sweetness" to people in China, especially during a tough economic time. It also helps visitors learn all about the history of chocolate and how it's used in different cultures around the world. Because chocolate melts easily, the park closes every year in April when the weather gets warm and reopens in January when it's cooler.
Explore the Chocolate Wonderland
This amazing theme park is huge, covering about 215,000 square feet (that's like 20,000 square meters)! Inside, you'll find incredible displays made from a whopping 176,000 pounds of chocolate. The park has three special halls where the temperature is carefully controlled. This keeps all the chocolate exhibits, which are protected by big glass walls, from melting.
Giant Chocolate Creations
One of the most famous things to see is the world's biggest chocolate model of the Great Wall of China. This chocolate version of the Great Wall is 12 meters (about 39 feet) long! It's truly a sight to behold.
Chocolate Art and Cars
The park also has a copy of the famous Terracotta Army, but these figures are all made from chocolate! There are 500 life-sized chocolate soldiers. You can also see chocolate shoes and clothes, and even a BMW car made from 2 tons of chocolate. It took ten skilled artists six months to build that chocolate car!
If you want to visit, an admission ticket costs 80 yuan, which is about 12 US dollars.
