Wu Minxia (Chinese: 吴敏霞; pinyin: Wú Mǐnxiá; born on November 10, 1985) is a retired Chinese diver. She was amazing at events like the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard dives. She also excelled in synchronized 3-meter springboard diving.

Wu Minxia started competing in big championships in 2001. She represented China in many major events until 2016. These included the Asian Games, Olympic Games, and FINA World Aquatics Championships. She won eight world championships and five Olympic gold medals. She also earned five Asian Games gold medals. This makes her one of the most successful divers ever!

Wu Minxia's Diving Journey

Wu Minxia began her professional diving career in 2001. She teamed up with Guo Jingjing for the 3-meter synchronized springboard event. They won gold at the 2001 World Aquatics Championships. They continued to win this title together three more times.

Olympic Success with Guo Jingjing

Wu Minxia competed for China at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She and Guo Jingjing won a gold medal in the 3-meter synchronized springboard. Wu also won a silver medal in the individual 3-meter springboard event.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Wu and Guo again won gold in the synchronized 3-meter springboard. Wu also earned a bronze medal in the individual 3-meter springboard.

New Partners and More Gold

After Guo Jingjing retired, Wu Minxia started diving with He Zi. This new partnership was very successful. They won the 3-meter synchronized title at the 2011 World Aquatics Championships. At the same championships, held in her hometown, Wu also won her first individual world title in the 3-meter springboard.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Wu and He Zi won gold in the 3-meter synchronized springboard. This made Wu the first woman to win gold in a diving event at three Olympics in a row. She also won another gold medal in the individual 3-meter springboard event.

Wu Minxia continued her amazing career with a new partner, Shi Tingmao. They won the 3-meter synchronized springboard event at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships. They also won at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships. This made Wu the first person to win seven gold medals in this specific event. She and Shi also won gold at the 2014 Asian Games and the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Life After Diving

Wu Minxia retired from diving as a true legend. On May 12, 2017, she accepted a marriage proposal from Zhang Xiaocheng. They got married on May 17, 2017. Their daughter was born on December 19, 2018. Their son was born on February 7, 2022.
