Guo Jingjing (Chinese: 郭晶晶; pinyin: Guō Jīngjīng) is a famous retired diver from China. She was born on October 15, 1981, in Baoding, Hebei. Guo is known for winning many gold medals at the Olympics and World Championships.
She holds the record for the most Olympic medals won by any female diver, tied with her diving partner Wu Minxia. Guo also won the 3-meter springboard event at five World Championships in a row! She stopped competing in diving in 2011.

Guo Jingjing's Diving Career
Guo Jingjing started diving when she was just six years old. She trained at the Baoding Training Base in China. By 1988, she was training for competitive diving. In 1992, she was chosen to join the Chinese national team.
Her first time competing at the Olympics was in 1996. She finished in 5th place. Her coach for the 2008 Olympics was Zhong Shaozhen.
Olympic Gold Medals in 2004
At the 2004 Summer Olympics, Guo Jingjing won two gold medals. She won her first gold medal in the 3-meter women's synchronized springboard event. She competed with her partner, Wu Minxia.
After that, she won her first individual Olympic gold medal. This was in the 3-meter women's springboard event.
After the 2004 Olympics, Guo became a very popular sports star in China. She had many deals with big companies. She was known as "The Princess of Diving" in China. Guo decided in 2006 that she would retire after the 2008 Summer Olympics.
More Olympic Wins in 2008
Guo won two more gold medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. By the end of the Beijing Games, she became the female Olympic diver with the most medals. She tied with other great divers like Fu Mingxia, Pat McCormick, and Greg Louganis for the most gold medals (four).
Guo won the gold medal in the women's 3-meter springboard. She scored 415.35 points. In synchronized diving, Guo and Wu Minxia won gold again. They had also won this event in 2004.
Retirement and New Adventures
In January 2011, Guo confirmed her retirement from diving. She decided not to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics. She said she felt she had done her part. She wanted to leave chances for other talented divers.
In 2016, Guo and her husband, Kenneth Fok, joined a TV show. It was called The Amazing Race China 3. They competed in many challenges. They ended up winning the season!
Guo Jingjing's Personal Life
Guo Jingjing's life outside of diving often made news in China. She was seen with Kenneth Fok Kai-kong. He is the grandson of a rich Hong Kong businessman, Henry Fok. Guo and Kenneth were often seen together in public.
They got married in Hong Kong on November 8, 2012. On August 27, 2013, Guo had their first child, a baby boy. They welcomed a second child, a girl, on April 21, 2017. Their third child, another daughter, was born on January 1, 2019.
Health Challenges
Being a top diver meant many years of intense training for Guo. This put a lot of stress on her body. Her knees were affected, and she had problems with her eyes. She developed myopia, which means she was nearsighted.
In September 2008, Guo had surgery on both her eyes. This was to fix a detached retina. She had a similar surgery on her right eye in 2001. Even though she took time off, her eyesight got worse over time.
