Oluwunmi Mosaku (born July 31, 1986) is a talented actress from Nigeria and Britain. She is well-known for her roles in several popular TV shows and movies. For example, she played Joy in the BBC Two show Moses Jones (2009) and Holly Lawson in the ITV series Vera (2011–2012).
Wunmi Mosaku won a special award, the BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actress, for her role as Gloria Taylor in the TV film Damilola, Our Loved Boy (2016). She also appeared in the fifth season of Luther in 2019. In 2020, she played Ruby Baptiste in HBO's Lovecraft Country. Since 2021, she has been known for playing Hunter B-15 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) TV series Loki. She played this role again in the 2024 movie Deadpool & Wolverine.
She was also nominated for a BAFTA for Best Actress. She won the BIFA for Best Performance by an Actress in a British Independent Film for her role as Rial in the movie His House (2020). Mosaku played Annie in the 2025 horror film Sinners.

Early Life and Education
Wunmi Mosaku was born in Zaria, Nigeria. Her parents were both university professors. When she was just one year old, her family moved to Manchester, England.
She went to Trinity Church of England High School and Xaverian Sixth Form College. For eleven years, she sang in the Manchester Girls Choir. Her mother started a business, and her father later returned to Nigeria. Wunmi Mosaku studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). She graduated in 2007 with a degree in Acting.
Acting Career Highlights
Wunmi Mosaku started her acting career on stage in 2007. Her first professional play was The Great Theatre of the World at the Arcola Theatre. She also performed in plays like Rough Crossings (2008), The Vertical Hour (2010), and Truth and Reconciliation (2011).
In 2008, her photo was part of the UNDEREXPOSED exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. This exhibition aimed to highlight black role models and celebrate talent in the Black British community. In 2009, she starred in the BBC Two series Moses Jones. For this role, she won Best Actress in a Miniseries at the Rome Fiction Festival.
In 2010, Wunmi Mosaku was recognized as one of The Seven Fresh Faces of the Toronto International Film Festival. This was for her role in I Am Slave. In this film, she played Malia, a girl kidnapped from her village in Sudan and sold into slavery. Her powerful performance earned her several awards. These included Best Actress at the Birmingham Black Film Festival and Best Female performance at the Screen Nation Awards.
In 2011, Mosaku appeared in Vera as Holly Lawson. In 2015, she played Quentina, a traffic warden, in the BBC series Capital. In 2016, she was in "Playtest", an episode of the show Black Mirror.
She won the 2017 BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actress. This was for her role as Gloria Taylor in the TV film Damilola, Our Loved Boy. In 2025, Mosaku played Annie, a spiritual healer, in Ryan Coogler's movie Sinners. The New York Times praised her performance, calling it "the soulful core" of the film.
Personal Interests
When asked about her personal heroes, Wunmi Mosaku mentioned several people. These included her grandmother, Anike Adisa, who taught her many lessons. She also looked up to actor Albert Finney, who inspired her to attend RADA. Her former teacher at RADA, William Gaskill, was also a hero. She admired Paul Newman not just for his acting, but also for his charity work with Newman's Own. Finally, she considers Oprah Winfrey a "superwoman."
Wunmi Mosaku is a mother. She has been learning the Yoruba language since 2020.
